About Dr. Goldsmith

Dr. Daniel Goldsmith is an Emergency Physician, with 25 years of experience working in community Emergency Medicine Departments in California. He has lived in Grass Valley for the past 18 years and has worked at Sierra Nevada Memorial ED during that time. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith is the Medical Director of the Sierra Nevada Ambulance Service. He grew up in Southern California, attended U.C. Davis for college, and received medical training at USC, and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at LA County/USC General hospital. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith considered Orthopedics as a medical specialty, but the fast pace and acute care of Emergency Medicine drew him in. His residency had a strong emphasis on orthopedic evaluation and treatment, and he has always paid special attention to the management of injuries beyond the Emergency Room.

Dr. Daniel Goldsmith is our Sports Medicine/Non-operative Orthopedists who enjoys treating patients with non-operative extremity fractures, soft tissue injuries, ankle sprains, wrist sprains, shoulder dislocations, concussion protocols, pre-activity physical examinations, joint injections, biomechanics analysis for specific sports and return to sport protocols.

Dr. Daniel Goldsmith had been an avid athlete all his life from playing soccer when he was younger to being an avid cyclist currently. He rides all over Nevada county and the surrounding areas. Mountain biking is what really attracted Dr. Daniel Goldsmith to this area. He rides all types of bikes, but now primarily mountain biking with a competitive edge, having raced cross country, and enduro events for years, along with road racing and the newer aspect of Gravel racing. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith tried to become fully engaged in the local cycling community in Grass Valley. He has coached the High School Mountain Bike team for the past 5 years. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith has been the president of Bicyclists of Nevada County (BONC) for over 6 years, where he engages in trail advocacy and expanding the accessibility of mountain biking for all. Beyond cycling, he lives most of his life outdoors. Backpacking, fly fishing, backcountry skiing are just a few things that he loves to do living in Nevada county.

During his 18 years living and working in Nevada county, Dr. Daniel Goldsmith has witnessed a gap in coverage for acute care of injuries in the community. He has had countless patients, friends and even medical colleagues who have difficulty obtaining care for their injuries, whether sports related or not, and many have had to be referred out of the area to obtain medical care. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith wants to bridge that missing piece here and provide a Sports Medicine practice in which he provides non-operative management of orthopedic issues. His goal will be to manage patient’s individual process with the goal of getting them back to their activity of choice as soon and safely as possible.

Dr. Daniel Goldsmith’s goal is to provide access to care, rapidly. He wants to provide care as soon as possible. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith hopes to get patients seen on an acute basis. Whether they are seen in the Emergency Room, Urgent Care or they can call the office directly where he will see them rapidly and make sure that the necessary imaging is done quickly, and treatments initiated to minimize your discomfort and to get the patient on the road to healing quickly.

In Nevada County, there are multiple exceptional Physical Therapy practices to choose from. Dr. Daniel Goldsmith will be utilizing these professionals to provide a detailed rehab plan and follow up on the patient’s progress to maximize their recovery.
