About Dr. Le
Dr. Phong Le is co-founder of Northern California Orthopaedic Associates and is a Fellowship Trained Foot and Ankle specialist. He is highly qualified to treat all foot and ankle disorders and particularly enjoys treating bunion deformities, fractures, flat feet and sports related injuries. He has experience in minimally invasive surgery, 3D bunion correction surgery, Charcot arthropathy surgery, revisional and complex reconstructive surgery including total ankle replacement surgery. He is the first surgeon to perform minimally invasive lapidus arthrodesis to correct hypermobile large bunion deformities by using the Stryker Prostep MIS Lapidus system in California.
He received his undergraduate education in his home state of Massachusetts with a Bachelors of Art degree in biology from Clark University in 1999. He then went on to further his education at Worcester State University by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences with a certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology. He then worked at Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA as a board certified nuclear medicine technologist for approximately 3 years before deciding to pursue Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Phong Le completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 2008.
His postgraduate training included a three-year comprehensive medicine and surgical residency in reconstructive rear-foot and ankle surgery at Cambridge Health Alliance Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Cambridge, MA from 2008-2011, a Harvard Medical School Teaching Affiliate, and served as chief-resident during his 3rd year. Dr. Phong Le advanced his education and training by further completing a Podiatric Sports Medicine & Surgery Fellowship at Irvine Multi-Specialty Surgical Care in Irvine, CA from 2011-2012.
Dr. Phong Le is currently Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rear-foot & Ankle Surgery with the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and California Podiatric Medical Association. He is an Associate of the American Podiatric Sports Medicine Association. He has served the Secretary/Treasurer in 2013, Vice President from 2014-2016 and has served as the President of Sacramento Valley Podiatric Medical Society from 2016-2019. Dr. Phong Le was awarded the Local Society President of the Year Award in 2017. He continues to dedicate his time by currently serving as a Board Member at Large from 2019-2022, Secretary/Treasurer from 2022-2023, President-Elect of the California Podiatric Medical Association 2023-2023 and currently serving as the President of the California Podiatric Medical Association.
He has completed the AO North America Podiatric Basic and Advanced courses, ACFAS Surgical Skills in Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy course, Arthrex Surgical Skills in Sports Medicine Injuries course, Texas Scottish Hospital for Children Hospital Based course in External Fixation, Stryker Podiatry Product Training course, Arthrex Advanced Foot & Ankle Training course, Wright Medical Advances in Foot & Ankle Surgery course, Wright Medical In-Bone II, Infinity and Prophecy Total Ankle course, Tornier Salto-Talaris Total Ankle course, Vantage Total Ankle system and the STAR total ankle course. He has also given presentations at regional and national podiatric conferences. Dr. Phong Le continues to attend numerous foot and ankle conferences in order to keep up to date with advancing technology and evidence based medicine. He is a guest faculty lecturer for the International Foot and Ankle Foundation and The Western Foot and Ankle Conference and has participated in cadaver labs locally and nationally to train and educate surgeons across the country.
Dr. Phong Le currently has hospital and surgical privileges at Greater Sacramento Surgery Center, Mercy Methodist Hospital, Mercy General Hospital, Fort Sutter Surgery Center, Sutter Elk Grove Surgery Center and Sutter Medical Center Sacramento. Dr. Phong Le participates in teaching the undergraduate pre-medicine students from the University of California, Davis, Health Related Internship program and is listed in the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Mentorship program where he continues to educate future health care professionals about Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He serves as an Attending Physician for the Methodist Hospital Family Medicine Residency program. Dr. Phong Le is also an Attending Physician for Veteran's Association of San Francisco Podiatric Medical Residency program where the residents come all the way up to Sacramento to train with him.
He is the current Fellowship Director of the NorCal Ortho Associates Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship, conditionally accredited by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons that will be accepting their first podiatric fellow for the year 2025-2026. Dr. Phong Le shares his personal time with his wife, two sons and daughter. He enjoys playing basketball and watching sports and movies in his spare time.
